Below are some of the common questions we receive each year. If your question isn’t answered, please contact us.
+ Do I have to run?
No. One of the goals of the Edmonton Pride Run & Walk is to create an inclusive event where everyone is welcome and diversity is celebrated. To achieve this goal, we have a non-competitive 2 KM walk which does not time participants or record individual results. In addition, the 2 KM route is fully paved and flat in order to accommodate a wide range of abilities.
+ Do I have to specify my gender identity?
We've decided to no longer ask participants for their sex or gender identity. Race results for the 5 KM run/walk and 10 KM run will be categorized only according to age groups. If you have any feedback on this policy, please contact us.
+ Can I register more than one person at a time?
Yes. At the bottom of the registration form there is a button to "Add Another Participant" which you can use to add one or more people to your order.
+ Do registration fees include a t-shirt?
No. In order to keep registration fees low and make the Pride Run as accessible as possible, t-shirts are an optional add-on for an additional fee.
+ Can I change my t-shirt size?
If you purchased a t-shirt with your registration and would like to change your selection, you can contact us to change your size. Requests received after May 22 will be accommodated on a best efforts basis but cannot be guaranteed.
+ Is there a reduced fee for children or seniors?
Yes. Children under 13 receive a 50% discount and seniors (65+) receive a 25% discount. Children under 13 may also accompany an adult registered in the 2 KM walk at no additional fee, but they will not receive a race bib or race package.
+ What if I can't afford the registration fee?
We are happy to subsidize race registrations. If you would like to participate but are unable to afford the registration fee, please contact us.
+ Can I transfer my registration to another person?
Yes, you can initiate a transfer through the Race Roster registration system. To transfer your registration to another person, select the "Transfer to a New Participant" option. Detailed instructions are outlined here. There is a $2 processing fee for each transfer.
+ Can I switch my registration to a different event?
Yes, you can initiate a transfer through the Race Roster registration system. To switch to another event, select the "To a New Sub-Event" option. Detailed instructions are outlined here. There is a $2 processing fee for each transfer and if you are moving to a higher priced event you will also need to pay the cost difference.
+ Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on leash and are comfortable with crowds. Dogs are not permitted in the RE/MAX Field facility. If you aren't sure how your pup will respond, it is probably best to leave them at home.
+ What should I wear?
The event will go ahead rain or shine (or snow!) so please take a look at the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Colourful and creative attire are welcome but not required. Please keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event.
+ Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers, chariots, and wagons are welcome, but those with any of these devices will be required to assemble at the back of the crowd at the start of the race.
